The new #10 valve seat. #11 has also been replaced; the rest having passed a dye penetrant test. No replacement seats could be found so these had to be machined from a modern material with a similar specification.

Such is life! This had been freshly painted and was just awaiting its final coat when I discovered the cracked seats. The casting required heating when the new seats were installed and this was the outcome. It would have been far better if al of the paint had been removed. |
