The bodywork finally laid bare. The whole structure was found to be in amazingly good condition. None of the ash frame was either split or rotten; the aluminium paneling was free from corrosion or denting. Two small cracks were evident on the flange for the rear number plate aperture; these were ground out and welded.
This under-bonnet section of the scuttle is the only steel on the body and was completely rust-free.
On either side if the windscreen aperture there is a small drainage groove to allow accumulated water to run to the outside of the car, away from the ash frame. |
