Below are two views of the core plug extractor that I had to make. The left hand shot shows the pins slightly off perpendicular because the 'A' side plug proved a little stubborn. On the right is the tool attached to one of the plugs. A square nut was cut to fit a 9/16" Whitworth spanner to give a good purchase in case I met any resistance. | |
The plugs are stamped with the engine number and engine side although they are both right hand thread. Sealing is the usual aluminium washer. | |
One of the cross-shaft gears used to drive a distributor. There is no obvious method of extracting either the gears or the shaft. Given the plethora of special tools used everywhere else on the engine I can only imagine that the designer was having an 'off' day.
